Why psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a vital tool for mental and emotional well-being. At Guiding Journeys, we offer a safe space for individuals to explore and understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. With over 20 years of experience, Minni Sharma (RP), a best-selling author of "Empower Women to Succeed Volume II," specializes in couples counselling and stress management using techniques like Cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness. Through psychotherapy, individuals gain insights into their relationships and life challenges, leading to improved communication and healthier relationships. What is Collaborative Law?
Collaborative Practice, including Collaborative Law and interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce, is a way for you to resolve disputes respectfully -- without going to court -- while working with trained professionals who are important to all areas of your life. The term incorporates all of the models developed since Minnesota lawyer Stu Webb created Collaborative Law ideas in the 1980s. Additionally, Collaborative Practice allows you the benefit of child and financial specialists, family professionals, and other experts all working together on your team.
In Collaborative Law you commit to:
Negotiate a mutually acceptable settlement without having courts decide issues.
Maintain open communication and information sharing.
Create shared solutions acknowledging the highest priorities of all.
What is counselling?
Counselling is "talk" therapy. It typically consists of face-to-face meetings between the therapist and an individual or couple. Sessions are normally 50 minutes each and are usually scheduled once per week or as needed. The first few sessions will be an assessment period where the focus will be on looking at the presenting issue(s) and situation(s) in the context of the individual's relationship to themselves and with others. Treatment will include explorations of ways to deal with the issues identified. This is done by healing the issues, shifting old patterns and looking at new coping skills to provide a renewed focus for pursuing life goals. How do you know if therapy is the next step? You may find yourself asking questions such as:
Why am I feeling so sad?
Why do I not feel connected to my partner/children?
Why do I feel so stressed out?
Why can't I get "over" this?
Why do I always react this way?
Life is a journey. Some journeys are easier, with less winding roads and obstacles along the way. Others lead us to feel hopeless, frustrated and stressed out. A psychotherapist can help guide you through the rough roads in your life, on the path to healing with skills to help you live a more fulfilled life.
